World Pharmacists Day 2023 | History of Pharmacists Day | Date, History,
THE TOPIC OF WORLD PHARMACISTS DAY, WHICH TAKES PLACE ON SEPTEMBER 25, IS "PHARMACY STRENGTHENING HEALTH SYSTEMS."
This year's World Pharmacists Day campaign offers
opportunities to raise awareness of pharmacists as an intelligent solution at a
time when health systems around the world are recovering from the COVID-19
crisis and it is generally agreed that urgent action is required for health
services to meet future needs.
Uncontestable proof of the ability of the pharmacy
profession to support healthcare systems has been provided by COVID-19. For
instance, the American Pharmacists Association, a FIP member organization,
claims that approximately 350 million clinical interventions—including COVID
testing, immunization, treatment, and inpatient care—were performed by pharmacy
teams in the USA during the epidemic.
A well-functioning health system is defined by many
international organizations and think tanks as having the following
characteristics: an easily accessible and dependable supply of medications and
medical equipment; trained and motivated healthcare professionals; good
infrastructure (including improved governance); evidence-based policies; robust
plans; and adequate funding.
Without a doubt, pharmacies are necessary for the proper
use of medications, a secure supply chain, and access to healthcare. With the
FIP Development Goals and aligned resources, FIP not only assists the
profession in these crucial roles but also works to transform practice,
science, education, and the workforce. It also supports national organizations
with global policy statements and urges governments to increase health funding
and create better working conditions for healthcare professionals.
The goal of FIP is to promote the advancement of
pharmaceutical practice, science, and education in order to benefit world
health. Consider a neighborhood pharmacy as an illustration. Through guidance,
information, and education, triage, screening/testing, and referral, as well as
the administration of immunizations, prescription and lowering polymedication,
and follow-up, this area of the profession promotes healthcare. Community pharmacists
may, however, take care of a variety of other needs, which would free up time
and pressure for other parts of the health system. More pharmacists might be
permitted to initiate and administer drugs because they are the experts on
medications. Additionally, pharmacists are equipped to manage patients with
chronic illnesses like diabetes. All nations and territories must advance and
make progress if we are to achieve universal
health coverage.
LET PHARMACISTS DO MORE, IS THE CLEAR MESSAGE FROM FIP FOR WORLD PHARMACISTS DAY IN 2023.

importance and future potential to advance health.
