Virtual
University, a federally chartered institution, is Pakistan’s first University,
based completely on modern information and communication technologies.
Established by the federal government as a public sector, not-for-profit the institution, VU’s mission is to provide extremely affordable, world-class
education to students, Virtual University of Pakistan is a pioneer in imparting
quality education using modern technologies to its students all over the country including the remote areas and Pakistani overseas Diaspora.
Virtual
University is the first to offer e-learning opportunities in Pakistan. Using
free-to-air satellite television broadcaster and the internet, virtual the university allows students to follow its rigorous programs regardless of
their physical locations. By identifying the top Professors of the country,
regardless of their institutional affiliations, and requesting them to develop and deliver aims at providing
the best courses to not only its Owen students but also to students of all other
universities in the country. The Virtual University of Pakistan holds a Federal
Charter, making its degrees recognized and accepted all over the country as
well as overseas.
The
University opened its virtual doors in 2002 and in a short span of time, its
outreach has reached over one hundred cities of the country with 200+
associated institutions providing infrastructure support to the students.
Pakistani Student residing overseas is several other countries of the region
are also enrolled in the University’s programs.
Virtual
University uses a combination of video lectures, reading material audio/video
tutorials and on-line interaction (e-class rooms) for imparting knowledge,
however, it follows a very formal assessment and evaluation system in the same
fashion as used in any conventional higher education institution (HEI).
Although the University observes the semester system, its students have
complete flexibility to study at their Owen convenience, pace, and place.
Complete student-teacher interaction and support is provided through the VULMS
while semester examinations are conducted in a formal, proctored environment at
designated examination centers throughout the country.

campuses of the University across Pakistan provide its students with a great opportunity
to participate in academic activities without any extra burden on their pockets
as compared to those studying at home. The widespread of Virtual Campuses and
complete flexibility to study at home jointly support the unique idea of “World
Class Education at your Doorstep” and in a true sense makes it unnecessary for
students to relocate or travel to larger cities to obtains higher education.

during the COVID-19 crisis and lockdown, Virtual University note just
stimulated innovation within the education sector but also managed to continue
the provision of quality education to its students.
As
per the directions of the chancellor of Virtual University of Pakistan, Dr,
Arif Alvi VUP Conducted first-ever online ECAT/Engineering test for
engineering University in Punjab As many as 111 designated campuses were
allocated for 34,000 participants across Punjab. Cities included Lahore,
Faisalabad, Multan, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, DG Khan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar,
Seikhupura, Nankana, Sialkot, and many others. A mobile application was also designed
to help participants in located their test centers and sitting arrangements. The front desk was designed to cater to COVID-19 in each campus. The whole process was
monitored and recorded via CCTV and IP cameras. The test was conducted in a
hassle-free air-conditional environment under strict monitoring from Virtual
University of Pakistan and Engineering Council of Pakistan. Each participant was
facilitated with gloves, surgical mask and hand sanitizer
Virtual
University of Pakistan al conducted an online admission test for students of
Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI). Total 3,000 students appeared for
admission test in 20 designated centers all over Pakistan. Cities where test
was conducted including Lahore, Peshawar, Abbottabad, Multan, Kohat, Wah Cantt,
Swabi, Mardan, Attock, and Nowshera

Virtual
University of Pakistan (VUP) has always strived to provide awareness about
latest developments and trends in the market and academia. In this regard,
Marketing Department of Virtual University of Pakistan organized a “3-Days
International Online Conference on Digitalization and Cyber Security” with the
theme Challenges, Opportunities, and Way Forwarded during Aug 10-12, 2020.
The President
of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Dr, Arif Alvi was the Chief Guest of the
Closing Ceremony of the Conference. In his address, he appreciated VU’s an initiative of organizing the International Conference and said that proper
measures should be taken by the Govt, to cope up with the challenges of cyber
security. Federal Minister for IT & Telecom, Mr. Syed Amin Ul Haque and
Federal Secretary for IT & Telecom, Mr. Shoaid Ahmed Siddiqui delivered
their sessions at the conference as Guest of Honor and highlighted that this the conference has been organized at a very right time by VUP who understands
emerging trends.
