Australia Bondi Beach Shooting 15 + Killed
BONDI BEACH AUSTRALIA
Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, was the scene of a horrific
shooting incident on December 14, 2025, where at least 16 people were killed
and 40 injured. The attack occurred during a Hanukkah celebration, which was
attended by around 1,000 people.
The shooters, identified as a father-son duo, Naveed Akram (24) and
Sajid Akram (50), opened fire on the crowd, targeting the Jewish community. One
of the gunmen was killed at the scene, while the other was critically injured
and is currently in hospital.
Police have confirmed that the attack was a terrorist incident, and
an investigation is underway. Authorities have also discovered improvised
explosive devices (IEDs) in the shooters' vehicle. The police response has been
praised, with Commissioner Mal Lanyon stating that officers acted
"promptly and professionally" ⁴ ⁵.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has visited the scene,
laying flowers and paying tribute to the victims. World leaders, including US
President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, have also
offered condolences ³ ⁶.
A brave bystander, Ahmed al Ahmed, tackled and disarmed one of the
gunmen, saving many lives. He is currently recovering in hospital after
undergoing surgery for bullet wounds ⁷.
